Course Description from Lucie:

An A to Z Workshop on Face Painting & Partial Body Painting

During this intense 8 hour workshop, I will try to cover every imaginable aspect of face-painting as possible.

Paints – what brands, what each has to offer in particular, how to mix them to obtain colors that are not on the market, how to blend them properly, as some work better together than with others.

Tools – how to take full advantage of them, how to tame them!

Positioning – help yourself to work pain-free, as stable as possible, so you can last longer and paint better.

How to interact with clients – kids and adults – behaviors that facilitate a painting session. Tips to manage lineups and more stressful venues.

Tons and tons of demos – and pictures are welcomed at the end of each piece.

Your questions are important – anytime feel free to ask – I try to paint and talk at once!

So, so many tips to make your life easier as a painter… I try to verbalize each step, why do I do this first and this last.

Usually there is a reason – it looks better, there is no risk of smudging, it is chromatically correct, it beautifies the face, it is faster this way, etc…

We will cover most popular designs with variations on each theme – simple, average, intricate. How to add richness to a plain design – it takes one more minute but what a difference in the end result.

My aim is not to turn students into clones of myself – it is to help you to become a better, faster and more skilled, defined YOU as a painter.

We finish the workshop with practice – so bring your kits (towel, wipes, paints, brushes, sponges, bowl of water) and we can practice on each other, on our own arms, or practice heads, if available.  If you require supplies for the day, they can be provided for you for an additional $25 fee – please advise at the time of booking your seat.  Please remember that practice heads do not feel at all like real skin- live flesh is preferable. Also, please do not bring models – this is  a family affair!

I truly believe that this workshop can benefit both beginners and intermediate painters. I have been at it for 25 years – there must be something I can help you with!

Please note, these might be my only workshops in the East – I have decided to slow down on teaching. Time for others to take over!

CAFABA will make every effort to sell your spot to any wait-listed individuals in the order they were received. However, we do NOT guarantee this. If we are able to resell your class seat, you will be refunded your class cost, less a $25 administrative fee. If CAFABA is unable to sell your space, the registration fee is NOT refundable.

Cancellations:

CAFABA reserves the right to cancel an event at any time. In the unlikely event that CAFABA is unable to fill the required minimum seats at a workshop, the event will be canceled. All paid registrations will be refunded in full in these circumstances. In the rare event of a cancellation, CAFABA is not liable for any incidental expenses or losses incurred by individuals as a result of that cancellation.

Conduct at Workshops:

We ask all our participants to be respectful of other delegates and of the instructor at all workshops, at all times. CAFABA reserves the right to ask any student to leave a session immediately, without refund, if, in the opinion of the CAFABA Host (Karen Dance – Oakville; Isabelle Pilon – Lachute), their behaviour is deemed to be disruptive, abusive or incongruous to the enjoyment of the session for the other students or facilitator.
