First Place at Bodyssey 2010

Local artist wins First Place at Canadian Bodyssey 2010 Face Painting and Body Painting Convention in Calgary, Alberta  this past weekend.  It was a celebration of living art and an opportunity for face & body artists across Canada, and around the world, to develop their skills, learn how to expand their business and compete against their peers in a face or body painting competition.  Bodyssey is geared to all levels of artists, from the very new to the very experienced.

Southern Alberta had strong representation in this years Bodyssey events.   Two painters from the Lethbridge area took home prizes in the “Face Paint” portion of the competition that was themed “Dungeons & Dragons.”   From Coaldale, Alberta, First place winner, in the Face Painting portion of the competition, was Criss Wiebe, of Criss Wiebe Face & Body Design. Criss did an amazing job on her dragon queen design (Drag-On-Queen), which showcased her ability and techniques in blending, fine line work and originality of design.  Criss has been painting in the southern Alberta region as well as Lethbridge and Calgary area for the past 5 years and you may have seen her at one of the many local events she’s painted at; Hurricanes games, Canada Day Celebrations, Raymond Temple Hill Moto Cross Races, AGAPE’s Mad Hatter’s Garden Tea and Fundraiser, and Calgary’s Brentview Baptist Stampede event to name just a few.  Her work can be viewed on Facebook “Criss Wiebe Face Design”.

Second place winner in the face paint portion was Jheri Cooke, of “Another Pretty Face Painting”, did a beautiful design using a combination of professional grade makeup mediums.

As only a large gathering of liked minded individuals can do, artists will find support, understanding and direction in continuing their trade and developing their business at the annual Bodyssey conventions.
